- Kraving (A Yelp review)
Perfect location, service, and food! Happened upon this place by happy accident on my way up to Bangor for business. I sat out on the cute, flower-filled patio. The menu isn't huge, yet has something for everyone, including both classic and inventive options. I got the twin lobster roll special. The waitress/hostess was great about subbing out salad for the fries and both that and the lobster were amazing! Each lobster role was overflowing with fresh lobster. Tossed in just the right amount of flavorful aioli and on perfectly toasted/buttery rolls. Their house salad is anything but boring with fig, caramelized onions, and pistachio. I didn't have much time for my stop and the woman who took care of me was friendly and efficient. I felt very welcome and you could tell she took pride in the offerings of the establishment. I'd HIGHLY recommend!!!
Wonderful lunch. Asian salad and Turkey BLAT were delicious. Very nice waiter as well.
Wonderful dinner. Attentive staff. The mussels were huge and well cooked.
Excellent food wonderful staff clean ... Great place to eat.
Friendly staff! Delicious food and drinks! Always fresh in season veggies.
Great food and surroundings, this was our 2nd time back in 2 weeks. Friendly staff highly recommend.
The food was creative, prepared properly, really a delicious menu. This is Restaurant Week, and they outdid themselves with their Specials! We were a table of 6, and our waitress was wonderful. Food was delivered on time and everything was to our liking except.
We came for dinner, I had the Steak Frite and my husband had the NY Strip, both were perfectly cooked medium and very flavorful.
We were greeted and seated immediately when we walked in. Our waitress, Sheri, was friendly and very attentive. I would definitely return .
What a awesome place. We had haddock bites, whole lobster (warm), lobster roll, fries and root beer that was on tap. Coming from North Carolina you don't know what fresh seafood taste like until you've been upstate. If we ever get back to Yarmouth Maine this will be the first stop you make.
I really like this place. In the years I've been going (more often when I lived closer), it's developed into a really nice, classy and unique place to have a meal. At my latest visit I had the 233 House Salad - baby watercress, caramelized onions, dried mission figs, gorgonzola, pistachios & sherry vinaigrette - to which I had them add what I found to be the tenderest, juiciest chicken I've had in ages. To say it was absolutely delicious is a vast understatement. My lunch companion had the falafel wrap special with fries. She loved it. The food looked, smelled and tasted divine. The waitress was friendly and attentive without being glommy. The restaurant is comfortable, modern and pleasant to eat in. Parking is ample, and it's easy to get to. With so many really good choices on the menu, you'll want to keep going back (as I do!).
My wife was getting hangry and we had no idea where to eat on our first day as Mainers. We tried two other restaurants, that ended up being closed in spite of their Yelp hours. We decided to give Bistro 233 a try, and we were very happy with our decision.
They had ample parking in the back and a cool atmosphere inside. We were seated immediately and ordered fairly quickly. My wife had the Reuben with sweet potato fries and I had the bowl of clam chowder. This is the first place I've ever eaten that actually gives you an adequate amount of oysters crackers with your chowder.
My wife's Reuben was fantastic! Definitely in both of our top 5 Reuben lists. The sweet potato fries were salted perfectly (which is too salty for most people, but we're salt lovers). My chowder was equally as delicious and I finished it off fairly quickly. The service was prompt and the bill was reasonable. We will definitely be back.
I love this little culinary gem! Been here many times and never disappointed. So far, I have tried the Italian Bistro Fries (OMG, to die for!), Homemade Veggie Burger (delish!), 233 house salad (amazing!), asian salad (good, but not my fave dish here), Risotto bowl (holy smokes - the best risotto ever!). We had chocolate bread pudding last night that was yummy too. Sorry I can't comment on the meat/fish entrees, I'm vegetarian. If you expect fast service, you might need to go elsewhere. But that's what I like about this place, they don't rush you through your meals. Try it, you won't be disappointed! Oh, and prices are very reasonable, compared to $ Portland restaurants.
This was a spur of the moment decision to go here for lunch. My husband is a plumber and does not usually recommend restaurants he's done work for but he suggested this one, so I know the kitchen looked good to him. We walked in and I loved the atmosphere immediately. It wasn't too quiet so us with our gaggle of children did not feel unwelcomed. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was amazing. However, if your kids previously loved the circular calamari shape, they may be surprised or disgusted by the whole fried squid mixed in with the normal circles. Just a warning I got the Cuban sandwich and hubby got the Reuben. I like my sandwich but next time I'll be getting the Reuben for sure. We don't go to Yarmouth often but I would like to visit again.-
I was pretty surprised by how consistent this meal was. I ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger with fries and a Rum Punch. (Because I am a big kid) and both were very good. The burger was order medium and it was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. The crowd on a Sunday evening looked to be that of an older generation and a 6 year olds birthday celebration. She wanted a pool party and to not share her chocolate cake with dad! My boyfriend order the Chicken Picata and a beer. He ate every bite! He also commented on how much he loved the Baxter beer glasses so I just order two for Valentines Day.
Go there and have a solid meal. The desserts looked amazing! And I can just imagine how yummy their breakfast is.
